About Me

How I Started This Journey

Hello, I’m Cai, born and raised in Malaysia — doctor by profession, explorer by heart.

I didn’t start Explore With Cai because I had extra time.
I started it because I needed something that reminded me I was still alive outside of work.

As a doctor, my days are filled with responsibility — patients, decisions, constant demands, and messages that never really stop. It’s a meaningful work, but it’s also intense. Somewhere along the way, I realised… I was always taking care of others, but rarely giving myself space to breathe.

And travel became that space.
Not just ticking destinations off a list —
But as a way to reset, learn to slow down, adapt and reconnect with myself.

From navigating high altitudes, dealing with unexpected travel challenges, to figuring out how to travel smarter on a budget — I started seeing travel differently.
Not just as an escape
but as a skill.

A skill to:

  • stay safe
  • stay aware
  • stay well — even far from home
  • and explore the world confidently

Because travel is not just something I do —
It’s my passion.

Somewhere between the mountains, the long journeys, and the quiet moments in unfamiliar places…
I found myself again.
The version of me that feels curious, free, and alive — not just functioning, but truly living.

And that’s how Explore With Cai was born.

If you want to travel:
– smarter
– safer
– and without wasting money
You’re in the right place.

Why I Share

I’ve seen what can go wrong.
I’ve seen people get altitude sickness they didn’t expect.

I’ve seen trips ruined by small mistakes that could have been avoided.
And I’ve also experienced moments where travel changed how I see life completely.

If my experiences — both good and bad — can help you to:

  • avoid risk
  • save money
  • and travel with more confidence

Then this journey is worth sharing.

Because I believe travel/adventure should feel empowering – not dangerous.
